In early September we journeyed north from Yosemite into the great forests of northern California and central Oregon. We landed in Jedidia Smith State Park and stayed on the Smith River. From there we drove to Crater Lake which was the first place we had seen for many months which had any rain fall. We even had a few firefighters come down from the ridge to inspect our campfire. By their own accord they said they "where very bored" due to the rain fall and seemed quite unhappy about the arrival of the wet season. From Crater Lake we traveled north where we stayed at Smith Rock State Park. A fantastic rock formation in the middle of a flat high desert plain. The park was filled with rock climbers who had traveled from all around to climb there.
